My personal style is very ADD. Sometimes I wake up and feel like dressing like the prim and proper girls from the 50’s. Those are the days that I may have a little extra time in the morning. That look takes me a while. I need to set my hair in hot rollers. Do the scotch tape trick for cat eyes. I really don’t know how they did it back then on a daily basis. I stumbled onto this on tumblr and it seems this girl has the look down packed. It’s too cute! It also happens to be the look my friend Jeniretro has masterfully perfected. Seriously, if you’re in N.Y. check her out!
As for me, I swoon when I see a polyester jumpsuit, I get excited at the sight of a fringe jacket. I love the 70’s with their clogs and dresses that flow in the wind. I bought tickets to see Fleetwood Mac in October and I told my boyfriend I was going in a long skirt and a shawl (Stevie Nicks Style). He said “I don’t think people are going to show up that way, you’re going to look like you’re in costume.” Well, I really don’t care, I’m going to twirl away in my shawl.
That brings me to Jemima Kirke who plays Jessa in HBO GIRLS. It seems her personal style closely resembles her characters style. As much as I love dressing from different eras, if you don’t do it right you may end up looking like an extra in a movie, the hell with it, dress however you want. Jemima Kirk looks like she found the perfect balance.
Your style is your own. Own it! Be authentic and be yourself. Don’t dress, act or do things because you think “What will other people think?” The world wants you, not an imitation of someone else. Whats your personal style?

I love Stevie Nicks and all things 70’s. If you follow me you know that my headband line & Vintage line is called Lila Juliet. It’s from all eras but my favorite finds are from the 70’s. I love dresses with a magical, whimsical air.
Firstly, I’m posting this video as a public frieken service. I went to Kat Von D’s book signing and I sat next to a guy who must’ve been about 18. He was flipping through Kat Von D’s book “GO BIG OR GO HOME”, which is beautiful. It has some of the most gorgeous pictures. Anyway, he lands on a picture of Jeffree Star who has Elvis, Kurt Cobain and Audrey Hepburn tattooed on his chest. The kid says to me “I know Elvis and the lady from Breakfast at Tiffany’s but I don’t know who that guy is. I shockingly looked at him and said “Kurt Cobain, smells like teen spirit, he’s a legend.” He looked at me blankly an I totally felt my age. So here’s the video for all the youngins’.
Anyway I got to meet Kat Von D. I love her because she’s this fierce ball of creativity. She has a tattoo shop, an art gallery, a make up line, a clothing line and she has a CD coming out soon. She’s a CREATIVE MONSTER! I love being around people like that. Most of my close friends are a bunch of weirdos but are the most highly creative, interesting people I know.

Now, talking about insanely creative out of this world people my friend “Jenilovesretro” did my new ombre hair. I’ve known her since I was 17. I wanted a change badly. I was such a difficult client. I told “Do whatever you want to my hair, but don’t cut too much off and don’t damage it with hair dye.” Basically I was giving her full permission to give me a trim. But she is a genius and also rocks purple hair. This is what she did-

1. TRADER JOE’S TEA TREE FACE WASH- Makes me feel super clean and tingly. Follow up with product #2
2. TRADER JOE’S Coconut oil and I dont use this for cooking. I have very dry cheeks. I use it as moisturizer and the best part is it doesnt leave a greasy mess as one may think. It pretty much absorbs into your skin naturally and it smells like HEAVEN.
3. CHARLOTTE RONSON fragrance roller ball oil $13 at Sephora. The smell is so DIVINE. It’s like the beach, sunscreen and summer all rolled into one fragrance. When work is stressing me out I just sniff my wrists and make-believe I’m in Fiji under a waterfall relaxing. Love this one!!!
4. MAYBELINE #978 AMETHYST ABLAZE. This is a purple lipstick and every time I wear it girls want to know where i bought it. Its Maybeline and its cheap. Less that $5.
5. REVELON #008 Candy Pink lipstick. It’s perfect for the office and for quick light touch ups.
6. NK #925 Dont know why its called POWER PLUM because it’s actually bright orange and it looks awesome if your feeling daring.(You find these at the DOLLAR STORES)
7. Physicians Formula lip plumper (Got it at Jacks for $2.99) It tingles and it works for about an hour. I wear this on the days Im feeling Hollywood.
I LOVE paying barely anything for my clothes. When a co worker tells me theres a sale at H&M, I ask “What kind of sale?” If they say items are about $20, I don’t consider that a sale. That’s not a sale for me. Call me cheap, I don’t care. Clothes shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. One of the reasons that I love vintage clothing is because its unique and has lasted for so long and is durable, plus you can find amazing deals for vintage at Goodwills and other shops. Believe me I indulge once in a while. I have a stupid expensive pair of True Religions but they’re the only jeans I actually like to wear. I also have a few pairs of Michael Kors shoes. It’s only natural that Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” is my self proclaimed theme song. My new thing is taking a picture of what I have on that day, breaking down the price and where I got it then instagraming it
I love a great cocktail ring. The bigger the better. Right now this is my favorite one. I have them available in sizes 7,8 and 9. Just send me a message when your checking out on paypal for the size you need. I also have them with gold faces instead of the blue and red faces. Take your pick!
Im getting exposed to new things everyday. I went to an art show a few weeks ago. I really thought I’d be bored to death staring blankly at portraits. I also never wanted to try yoga because I assumed it wouldn’t be my style, now The Jivamukti yoga studio is my haven. The art show was actually beautiful. The show was in Chelsea and the artist was Kris Kuski. I really don’t know how this artist creates these pieces. They look painstaking. He must be the most patient person there is. Theres a million teeny tiny soldiers all strategically placed everywhere. There’s a lot of nakedness and the theme is war. Take a look-

I just picked up the new February Elle Magazine with Reese Witherspoon gracing the cover and I just want to be transported to the 1950’s put on a frilly dress and bake a pie. It looks like this Spring Im going to be in heaven (fashion speaking).

So, I bought this great Theory dress from Buffalo Exchange in California about a year and half ago and I never wore it. I knew it was a great dress and I had all intentions of wearing it but I kept thinking, “I need to lose about 5-8 lbs so this can look like I CAN wear it.
I moved back to New York about 7 months ago and I still didnt wear it. But I was surfing the net and I stumbled onto Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks. I saw her pictures and shes totally full figured and absolutely stunning.

I thought to myself this lady looks awesome in this form fitting clothes and she was voted SEXIEST WOMAN ALIVE by Esquire Magazine. So, I thought “The hell with it, Im wearing my dress, even if I should be smaller to wear it.”

I was actually happy I wore it and I got a lot of compliments.
I cant believe I waited so long to wear this. I think sometimes as women we are hard on ourselves about how we look, how other people perceive us and its just crazy. After I looked at my picture I thought to myself “Why did I care so much, I look fine.”
I kind of think this dress is a cross between Mad Men fashion with its form fitting fabric and Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night” music video because of the neon green.
In case you want to know you can get fabulous cheaper name brand dresses and outfits at Buffalo Exchange, its an awesome thrift shop. They just opened one up in Chelsea on West 26street between 6 avenue and 7th Avenue. My dress was about $30.00 in San Francisco.
My point is have fun with fashion damn it! Who cares if you have a few pounds to lose. Just be tasteful and have a great time. Even if I weighed 100lbs (which I don’t) my butt would still be huge. When I was younger and everytime I gain weight I tie a sweater around my waist so guys wouldn’t look at my butt. But there comes a point in life when you have to accept yourself. If your unhappy with your weight work on getting healthy but look fabulous in the meantime. If a Hollywood starlet can show her full figured bootie to the world and be the sexiest woman alive, so can you. Every girl has her own kind of sexy.

I wake up everyday at 5:45 am to make my daughter lunch for school and then later wake her up and make her breakfast and help her get ready for school. After my daughters totally ready its my turn. I always know what to do with clothes and I consider myself fairly decent with makeup. But my HAIR! It drives me crazy, sometimes its so pretty and wavy and if Im lucky enough to have my friend Jennifer Cali blow dry it, its perfectly pin straight for 2 days but for those other days, I discovered Goody Spin Pins. I LOVE IT!!

Wow! I havent written here in a super long time. The good news is that I finally got to move out of California. Im beyond happy to be back home in New York. There’s no other place like this. I was born and raised here and I never get bored of this place.
This summer was amazing. I got to go to the premier of an independant film called “Girlfriend”. It was written by my friend Melissa L’s friend Justin Lerner. Its a story of a man with Down Syndrome, he falls in love and then the story gets intense. Jackson Rathbone from Twilight fame and the band 100 Monkeys also stars in it. I met him at the after party and I must say he was very pleasant and charming and yes, super cute. He had a gorgeous blond with him and she was a sweetheart too. I felt dumb asking them for a pic, but my little sister Jacqueline loves Jackson so I gathered up my courage and took the darn picture.
Needless to say we all had a great time!
My daughter Lila Bean also graduated from elementary school and shes about to start middle school. OMG! How time flies. Her birthday just passed and shes now 11. Shes very artistic and one of the funniest people I have ever met.

I also FINALLY saw my best friend Douglas from my teen years. We hadent seen each other in about 15 years. We picked up our conversation as if a day hadent passed. Its awesome to have friends like that.

There was way more that happened this summer. I didnt have my camera at all times and some things are just for me! Im settled in New York and I will be starting a new Etsy store super soon.
