It’s COLD, I live in a small town and Summer Vintage Inspiration from Taxi Driver

6 Mar

I’m originally from Queens, N.Y, but I have recently moved to upstate New York, which trust me is whole new world.  You definitely need to know how to drive and have a car if you kind of want to have a life and everybody knows everybody.  I didn’t even know my neighbors name in Queens!  I used to hop on a train to get anywhere I wanted to go in the city and I never had the need to drive, but things change and you need evolve with them. I’m finally getting my permit in my 30’s.  It’s been absolutely freezing  up here and I cannot wait for the spring so I can frolic in  dress and wear three inch wedges. I’m sick of wearing layers upon layers of clothes.  This is what went down a few weeks ago where I live, the Polar Bear Plunge.  I’m getting cold just looking at this picture.

My current summer fashion muses are Jodi Foster and Cybill Shepard from the 1976 film “Taxi Driver” which also features Robert De Niro and takes place in New York City. Without giving too much away in case you haven’t ever seen it, it’s about a Vietnam vet (Robert De Niro) who becomes a taxi driver because he can’t sleep at night anyway.  Jodi Foster is a 14-year-old prostitute and he has a huge problem with that and is hell-bent on saving her.

I’m loving her whole get up in this pic. The high-waisted shorts, the crop top, those red velvet wedges and that hat!

Don’t sleep on Cybill Shepards character Betsy who is Robert De Niro’s love interest in the film. Check out her peter pan collard dress and oversized belt!

The wrap dress will never go out of style and this picture proves it! Cybill is actually wearing a Diane von Furstenberg dress in this picture.

We at the East Coast have to live with obscene weather for just a little while longer. For now enjoy this image of Lana Del Rey ushering in the summer vibes.

You can dress like Coco Rocha, Sophia Amoruso and Christina Milian on a budget

20 Feb

So you think its impossible to dress like a supermodel, CEO or singer. I’m here to show you how. It’s no secret that I love to covet beautiful vintage clothing and pass it on.  You don’t need to spend two weeks of your pay in order to look like your favorite celebrity. Just use your imagination.

Don’t dress exactly as your favorite celebrity muse. Take inspiration from their look and add your own style. Everyone has their own individual taste. For example I love wearing platforms since I’m 5′ tall. They make me feel tall and elegant and I’m a sucker for a huge cocktail ring.
