I just picked up the new February Elle Magazine with Reese Witherspoon gracing the cover and I just want to be transported to the 1950′s put on a frilly dress and bake a pie.  It looks like this Spring Im going to be in heaven (fashion speaking).

My cousin Saray is getting married on November second of this year which is also my birthday! I couldn’t be happier for her. My daughter is going to be a bridesmaid. She is a very excited 11 year old and she’ll be 12 by the wedding. Anyway, I want a very gorgeous, glamorous dress for this occasion.  I want a find the perfect dress and have my grandmother Alba who is a professional seamstress to make it for me.  I found some that I loved worn by Blake Lively.

So as of now these two dresses are the top contenders for my cousins wedding.  I love them, but I tend to love anything this girl wears.

I would wear this to an office all the time.  I love this look and its relatively simple. You don’t have to dress it up exactly this way.  You can make it more casual in order to suit your normal everyday life.

If I owned this blazer, I think I might wear it everyday.

Okay, so for now Im pretty much done with my rant about Blake Lively’s perfect wardrobe.  I will be sure to keep you updated on my new line of Lila Juliet headbands.  I’m working on them!

I saw some pics of the golden globes and saw that Charlize Theron and Michelle Williams had very pretty headbands on.

Also, I love the show PAN AM, because the girls are dressed so pretty.  Check this bright pink headband that Christina Ricci’s character has on. My new line will be a little different from the Lila Juliet headbands from a year ago. Check in and check them out.

So, I bought this great Theory dress from Buffalo Exchange in California about a year and half ago and I never wore it. I knew it was a great dress and I had all intentions of wearing it but I kept thinking, “I need to lose about 5-8 lbs so this can look like I CAN wear it.

I moved back to New York about 7 months ago and I still didnt wear it.  But I was surfing the net and I stumbled onto Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks.  I saw her pictures and shes totally full figured and absolutely stunning.

I thought to myself this lady looks awesome in this form fitting clothes and she was voted SEXIEST WOMAN ALIVE by Esquire Magazine.  So, I thought “The hell with it, Im wearing my dress, even if I should be smaller to wear it.”

I was actually happy I wore it and I got a lot of compliments.

I cant believe I waited so long to wear this. I think sometimes as women we are hard on ourselves about how we look, how other people perceive us and its just crazy. After I looked at my picture I thought to myself “Why did I care so much, I look fine.”

I kind of think this dress is a cross between Mad Men fashion with its form fitting fabric and Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night” music video because of the neon green.

In case you want to know you can get fabulous cheaper name brand dresses and outfits at Buffalo Exchange, its an awesome thrift shop. They just opened one up in Chelsea on West 26street between 6 avenue and 7th Avenue. My dress was about $30.00 in San Francisco.

My point is have fun with fashion damn it! Who cares if you have a few pounds to lose.  Just be tasteful and have a great time. Even if I weighed 100lbs (which I don’t) my butt would still be huge. When I was younger and everytime I gain weight I tie a sweater around my waist so guys wouldn’t look at my butt. But there comes a point in life when you have to accept yourself. If your unhappy with your weight work on getting healthy but look fabulous in the meantime. If a Hollywood starlet can show her full figured bootie to the world and be the sexiest woman alive, so can you. Every girl has her own kind of sexy.

I wake up everyday at 5:45 am to make my daughter lunch for school and then later wake her up and make her breakfast and help her get ready for school. After my daughters totally ready its my turn. I always know what to do with clothes and I consider myself fairly decent with makeup. But my HAIR! It drives me crazy, sometimes its so pretty and wavy and if  Im lucky enough to have my friend Jennifer Cali blow dry it, its perfectly pin straight for 2 days but for those other days, I discovered Goody Spin Pins. I LOVE IT!!

I kind of do really fast, I need to get out the door kind of makeup. But if you have the time, I suggest you learn and watch XSPAKAGE on youtube. When I had more time in California I watched her videos and learned so many tips.

Then before you actually leave your home I suggest you give yourself 5 minutes to meditate and/or pray. My days actually go smoother when I do. I suggest these guided meditations from Gabrielle Bernstein.

This summer was amazing. I got to go to the premier of an independant film called “Girlfriend”.  It was written by my friend Melissa L’s friend Justin Lerner.  Its a story of a man with Down Syndrome, he falls in love and then the story gets intense. Jackson Rathbone from Twilight fame and the band 100 Monkeys also stars in it. I met him at the after party and I must say he was very pleasant and charming and yes, super cute. He had a gorgeous blond with him and she was a sweetheart too. I felt dumb asking them for a pic, but my little sister Jacqueline loves Jackson so I gathered up my courage and took the darn picture.

Needless to say we all had a great time!

My daughter Lila Bean also graduated from elementary school and shes about to start middle school. OMG! How time flies. Her birthday just passed and shes now 11.  Shes very artistic and one of the funniest people I have ever met.

I also FINALLY saw my best friend Douglas from my teen years. We hadent seen each other in about 15 years. We picked up our conversation as if a day hadent passed. Its awesome to have friends like that.

There was way more that happened this summer. I didnt have my camera at all times and some things are just for me! Im settled in New York and I will be starting a new Etsy store super soon. Ill keep you updated.  Remember to keep your head up at all times, no matter what the little annoyances in life are just that-LITTLE. Be thankful for all the beauty, love and humor around you.

I need Jillian Michael’s from the Biggest Loser to yell at me daily.

I’ve always had concern about my weight, I’ve never felt right about it. When I called Jenifer this morning she said to me “Why don’t you commit to working out about 30 minutes a day, whether it be a video, walking or yoga.” She said “That when she commits to something for 40 days and she follows through the feeling is great.  We decided to take charge of our health, attitudes and bodies for the next 40 days. We will be keeping each other motivated daily.

I know we will be facing challenges. I am currently applying for jobs and my stress level is sky-high, my boyfriend and I live together and he loves to eat. He is a wrestler and a mixed martial artist so he CAN eat basically whatever he wants.  So I’ll be tempted.

Jennifer is a married mother of 3 children and a makeup artist and as you can imagine she barely has a minute to herself.  Heres her facebook page titled the Life and Times of Jenn where she dishes about life.

But this is my point, we all need to give ourselves a little time to ourselves.

Just today I went to drop off a resume at a yoga studio in Berkley and the front desk girl said I’m able to have one month of free classes. There are lots of yoga studios that will give you one or two-week  introductory classes on the cheap. Also, I usually HATE TV or DVD workouts but I found one I like. You can watch it free on hulu. They last 35 minutes. I just did the butt one and I did sweat. I recommend it if you cant get out to a gym.

I’m also watching my calorie intake. I had a pretty filling 3 egg white, spinach and jalapeno omelet that came out to 160 calories. SWEET !

The challenge will be done by June 5. If anyone out there wants to join in on it. Please do so, leave a comment on your weight and your target within 40 days. Be reasonable. I plan to be back to 115 by the end of the challenge. I need 8 llbs off of me. If the gang on the Biggest Loser can do it, so can you!

As the old saying goes what is old is new again, and this so true in the world of fashion. Fashion isn’t just clothes. Fashion is your hairstyle, your attitude, your smile. You can look fashionable in a raggedy t shirt  and red lipstick if you have the right attitude.  Today, I saw a pic of Demi Lovatos new hair and I LOVE IT! Its reminiscent of Bridget Bardots. I absolutely adore Nip Tuck’s Kelly Carlsons hair which is so similar to Marilyn Monroes. It does seem like a lot of up keep so I dont think I’d be the right candidate for that style but she looks gorgeous.
